At a national level, museums offer few programmes designed specifically for people with dementia and their caregivers. In this sense, it was considered essential to create a national network of museums for inclusion in Dementia, in order to develop and share good practices, train the teams of cultural institutions and raise community awareness on the topic of dementia, which is increasingly relevant in the world, both from a social and a public health point of view.

This network’s general objectives are to contribute to the increasing the autonomy, well-being, dignity, social and cultural participation, as well as the quality of life of people with dementia and their caregivers; raise awareness among the teams of cultural institutions regarding the need to create specific programmes for people with dementia and their caregivers; and train teams as true agents of change, with a view to contributing to a more inclusive society, reducing the stigma associated with dementia.
