Over the last two years, Access Culture had the enormous privilege of participating, as an external consultant, in the creation of this manual for inclusive recruitment.

This is a publication by Performart – Association for the Performing Arts in Portugal. It was the awareness that misinformation and ignorance feed prejudice, and in turn reproduce discrimination, that led this association to invite the cultural sector to have a good look at itself and to understand how it contributes towards this discrimination.

This publication:

  • Presents very clearly the factors that lead to underrepresentation, discrimination or exclusion
  • Makes recommendations for inclusive recruitment (from the job announcement to the workplace, passing by the application and interview processes).
  • Includes at the end a glossary, bibliography, references and additional resources.

This was a very enriching experience for Acesso Cultura, thanks also to the contribution of three other external consultants: Afrolink, the Centre for Independen Life and ILGA Portugal.
