The “Political Bodies” series – curated by the artist, writer and activist Diana Niepce – takes place at Culturgest, in Lisbon, between the 4th and 16th of March.
This is a research, audience development and programming project that attempts to map the presence of the body “outside the norm” in the performing arts. Political bodies that contest their place in society. In addition to the shows and performances (Diana Niepce, Diana Anselmo and Dan Daw), there will also be conversations and workshops.
Acesso Cultura is pleased to be involved in the series in two ways:
- Holding the workshop “How (and when) to talk about disability?”, aimed at journalists and cultural communication professionals (4 March, 10:30am-12:30pm). With Diana Niepce, Joana Gomes, Joana Reais and Maria Vlachou.
- Supporting the conference “Corpos Assumidos / Unapologetical bodies” (9 March, 3pm), with Diana Anselmo, Diana Niepce and Mark Brew*.
*Dancer Mickaella Dantas would have participated in this conference. Her passing away left us deeply sad. We were privileged to see our lives touched by her. It was a joy to follow her journey and see her fly, smiling, confident, sweet, determined.
We hope to be able to count on your presence. This series, carefully planned by Diana Niepce, will allow us to discover that the world is much bigger and much richer than we thought.
